From 17 to 20 March 2026 RACVIAC – Centre for Security Cooperation participated in the 55th Politico-Military Steering Committee of the Multinational Peace Force South-Eastern Europe (PMSC/MPFSEE) Meeting and the 54th South-Eastern Europe Defence Ministerial Coordination Committee (SEDM-CC) Meeting, held in Chania, Hellenic Republic.
The meetings were organised under the Chairmanship of the Hellenic Republic and focused on strengthening regional defence cooperation, reviewing the implementation of previous decisions, and discussing future priorities within the SEDM Process. Discussions also addressed ongoing activities related to the MPFSEE and its role in promoting stability, interoperability, and cooperation in the region.
The meeting gathered representatives from the SEDM Secretariat, Republic of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republic of Bulgaria, Republic of Croatia, Georgia, Hellenic Republic, Italian Republic, Republic of Moldova, Montenegro, Republic of North Macedonia, Romania, Republic of Serbia, Republic of Slovenia, Republic of Türkiye, as well as SEEBRIG Headquarters and representatives of international and regional organisations, including UNDP SEESAC, and the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC).
RACVIAC was represented by MAJ Elton Kalo, Planning and Liaison Officer for South East Europe (SEE), who delivered a statement emphasizing the importance of such a gathering at a time of increasing uncertainty and complex security challenges both regionally and globally. He highlighted that for more than 25 years RACVIAC has supported regional cooperation, confidence-building, and the exchange of expertise on a wide range of security issues. He noted that the Centre continues to implement practical activities with its Members and partners that support SEDM’s shared objectives of strengthening stability, resilience, and defence cooperation in the region. During his intervention, MAJ Kalo reaffirmed RACVIAC strong commitment to further deepening cooperation with SEDM and its Member Nations in promoting long term peace and security in SEE.
