Between February 12 and 14, 2024, RACVIAC representative, COL (ret.) Predrag Omrčen, attended the 36th meeting of the permanent working group of the Subregional Consultative Commission of the Agreement on Subregional Arms Control, Article IV, Annex 1-B of the General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina (“Agreement”). The meeting took place under the auspices of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Spa Terme hotel in Sarajevo.

The meeting was chaired by Mr. Momir Brajić, Head of NATO division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Mrs. Aida Hodžić, Assistant Minister for Multilateral Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, addressed the parties in her introductory speech. She indicated the importance of the “Agreement” and the transparency of its implementation, mutual respect and support. Furthermore, she emphasized the importance of RACVIAC as an institution that provides unreserved support to this Agreement by conducting the Arms Control Course that will be held this year in Budva (Montenegro) from 17 to 22 March.

The permanent working group conducted an analysis of the inspections carried out in 2023. It also considered and harmonized the proposal of the inspection schedule for 2024. Furthermore, the proposed schedule for engaging guest observers was discussed and agreed upon.

RACVIAC Representative, Mr. Predrag Omrčen presented the plan of activities for the implementation of the Arms Control Course. At the end of the two-day meeting the working group discussed topics such as modernization of the Agreement, affirmation of the Agreement and reviewed the modalities of its improvement.

The two-day work of the working group ended successfully with the setting of dates for holding meetings in the second part of the year.
