On 27-28 March 2024 the 51st SEDM Coordination Committee (CC) and 50th Political-Military Steering Committee (PMSC) Meetings took place in Iasi, Romania. RACVIAC representative in those meetings was LTC Arta Driza, Planning & Liaison Officer for SEE.
The Meetings were attended by representatives of 14 SEDM member and observer countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Italy, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Slovenia, Serbia, Türkiye, Georgia, Moldova), the Commander of the SEEBRIG Multinational Brigade as well as representatives of RACVIAC – Center for Security Cooperation, RCC, USA Embassy and E-ARC. These were the first SEDM-CC meetings with the Republic of Moldova as a fully-fledged member of the SEDM family.
These were the second meetings in a row under the Bucharest Chairmanship. The Meetings were presided by the SEDM-CC/PMSC Chairperson Ms Simona Cojacaru.
The Conference was presided by the SEDM-CC/PMSC Chairperson.
The SEDM Secretariat and COMSEEBRIG Brigadier General Bilbil Bitri presented an update of the activities and results achieved since the last CC/PMSC meeting in September 2023. One update on the latest developments in SEDM-related projects were presented by the host nations such as “Female Leaders in Security and Defence” (FLSD) and “Interconnection of Military Hospitals” (IMIHO).
RACVIAC representative provided an update on the activities planned for 2024, highlighting that the Centre remains committed to supporting regional initiatives aimed at addressing security challenges effectively and involvement of countries in more projects would greatly contribute in strengthening security in the region.
She emphasized the intention to continue intensifying SEDM – RACVIAC cooperation with regard to SEDM on-going and new projects, recognizing the expertise and capabilities of the countries in SEE region.
Concluding the presentation LTC Driza expressed appreciation for the ongoing support and assistance that Romania has been providing to RACVIAC and also appreciated hard work and dedication of SEEBRIG and member nations showing new vision and ideas on security concept of transformation.
