RACVIAC – Centre for Security Cooperation took part in the 2026 NATO Committee on Gender Perspectives (NCGP) Annual Conference held at NATO Headquarters in Brussels from 18 to 21 May 2026, under the theme “Every Inch, Every Person: Advancing Gender Perspectives in Collective Defence”.
The Conference highlighted the importance of strengthening NATO deterrence and defence through the operationalization of gender perspectives, while also commemorating the 50th anniversary of the formal recognition of the Committee on Women in the NATO Forces.
Over two days of panels and syndicate sessions, participants addressed key themes including gender-related threats, indicators and warnings, integration of gender perspectives in deterrence and defence planning, and the operationalization of gender perspectives as a force multiplier to enhance readiness, resilience, and credibility.
CAPT Antonios Pappas, SSG Pillar Programme Manager represented RACVIAC at the Conference. During the Education, Training, Exercise and Evaluation (ETEE) Agora panel, he highlighted RACVIAC mission in fostering dialogue and cooperation on security matters in South Eastern Europe and also underlined the long-standing cooperation between RACVIAC and the Nordic Centre for Gender in Military Operations (NCGM), through the implementation of the NATO-approved Gender Training of Trainers (GToT) Course since 2014. He also presented RACVIAC capability, in coordination with NCGM, to support the deployment of Mobile Training Teams (MTTs) and conduct tailored GToT courses, subject to MAG approval procedures.
Through its participation, RACVIAC reaffirmed its continued commitment to advancing gender perspectives and regional cooperation in the security and defence sector.
