  • RACVIAC JOINS 25TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS OF THE REGIONAL ANTI-CORRUPTION INITIATIVE IN SARAJEVO

From 6 to 7 November 2025 RACVIAC took part in the 25th anniversary celebrations of the Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative (RAI) in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, with CAPT (N) Antonios Pappas representing the Centre. The events began on the evening of 6 November with a reception and programme at ‘’4 Sobe Gospođe Safije ‘’.

On 7 November a working meeting with RAI partners took place at the RAI Secretariat. In addition to RACVIAC the meeting with RAI was attended by Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), Integrative Internal Security Governance (IISG), Network of Associations of Local Authorities of South East Europe (NALAS), Anagrafe Italiani Residenti all’Estero  (AIRE), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Central European Initiative (CEI) and Regional School of Public Administration (ReSPA). The meeting fostered open discussion on regional priorities, ways to strengthen collaboration, and opportunities for future joint initiatives. Participants reflected on 25 years of regional cooperation and explored strategies for building on existing partnerships to further advance integrity, transparency, and good governance across South East Europe.

RACVIAC participation in the celebrations was particularly symbolic, as the Centre also marks its own 25th anniversary, a testament to its long-standing dedication to promoting regional cooperation and capacity building.

RACVIAC involvement in the anniversary celebrations reaffirmed its long-standing partnership with RAI, formalized in 2014. Since then, RACVIAC and RAI have cooperated on numerous activities, the most recent of which include the regional workshop “Transparency in the Security Sector” in Budva, Montenegro in 2024, the workshop “Integrity and Control Measures in Defence and Law Enforcement Institutions” in Rakitje, Republic of Croatia in 2024, the “Workshop on Conflict of Interest in the Security Sector” in Podgorica, Montenegro in 2023, and the regional workshop “Promoting Integrity in the Security Sector: Whistleblowing” in Rakitje, Republic of Croatia in 2022. Finally, cooperation for the next workshop, ‘’ Whistleblowing and Protection of Witnesses’’, to be held in 2026, and the perspective of holding it in Vienna, was also discussed.
