On 4 February 2026, RACVIAC – Centre for Security Cooperation hosted the visit of the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Croatia, H.E. Lee Seungbuhm, at its premises in Rakitje.
During his visit, the guest met with the RACVIAC Director, H.E. Ambassador Constantin-Mihail Grigorie, in a tête-à-tête meeting, followed by a working meeting with RACVIAC staff.
The discussions focused on RACVIAC mission and activities, with particular attention addressed to topics such as arms control, non-proliferation, and confidence-building measures.
The Director recalled that the Republic of Korea first expressed interest in RACVIAC in 2016, followed by a visit of a delegation from the Korean Arms Control Verification Agency (KAVA) in 2017. Since 2018, KAVA representatives have regularly participated in the „Agreement on Sub-Regional Arms Control (Dayton Article IV) Course“, and most recently in the „Open Skies Aerial Observation Course“, held in Hungary in 2024.
Ambassador Seungbuhm was briefed on RACVIAC ongoing projects and its role as a regional platform for dialogue, confidence-building, and practical cooperation in South East Europe. Both sides exchanged views on current security challenges and underlined the importance of multilateral dialogue and practical cooperation. RACVIAC Director reaffirmed its openness to further strengthening cooperation with the Republic of Korea, and expressed readiness to explore avenues for bringing the Republic of Korea closer to the RACVIAC family.
Ambassador Lee expressed appreciation for RACVIAC contribution to regional stability and its efforts in fostering international partnerships, commended the positive experience of cooperation between RACVIAC and the Republic of Korea, and expressed a positive outlook towards further strengthening this cooperation. Ambassador Grigorie welcomed the interest of the Republic of Korea in RACVIAC work and reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to further developing cooperation with partners from the Asia-Pacific region.
