Following the recent initiatives in its efforts to improve visibility and increase the interest of its Associate Members and others in participation in the Organization’s activities, RACVIAC – Centre for Security Cooperation hosted a meeting on November 7, 2023 bringing together Ambassadors, Deputy Heads or representatives of Diplomatic Missions from Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden as well as of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia and the Representation of the European Commission in Croatia.

The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to introduce the audience to the rich history, objectives, ongoing activities and future plans of RACVIAC to achieve its mission to promote regional and international security and stability through arms control, disarmament, and non-proliferation efforts.

H.E. Ambassador Constantin-Mihail Grigorie, Director of RACVIAC, used the opportunity to address the guests in his new capacity as Director of RACVIAC – Centre for Security Cooperation, and to express appreciation for the support and contribution which Members, Associate Members and Observers are providing to the work of the Centre and ask for increased participation in the activities and overall RACVIAC work. “Bearing in mind the role of RACVIAC as an internationally recognized institution that plays a vital role in advancing peace, security, and stability in the region, this meeting is poised to be an opportunity for increasing support for the activities of our Organization”, stressed RACVIAC Director.

Deputy Director of RACVIAC, Rear Admiral Predrag Stipanović, followed by Programme Managers and C-WMD Network Programme Leader provided the audience with information on the state of affairs in RACVIAC, RACVIAC projects and main areas of interest. Furthermore, an invitation was extended to the participants to consider the possibility of finding topics of interest in RACVIAC 2024 Programme and beyond that could be supported by their countries, with the overall aim of contributing to the RACVIAC mission of encouraging security dialogue in SE Europe in order to increase the quality and participation in its activities.

The meeting participants welcomed the initiative, expressing appreciation for RACVIAC work. They confirmed their readiness to explore and find solutions for improved involvement in the work of the Centre either by increasing the number of participants in RACVIAC activities or by providing support regarding the implementation of RACVIAC Programme.

Director of RACVIAC thanked the participants for the attention they are paying to RACVIAC activities and invited them to remain in contact in order to determine more concrete steps regarding mutual cooperation.
