On December 18, 2024 the Director of RACVIAC, H.E. Ambassador Constantin-Mihail Grigorie, met and had in Belgrade a productive discussion with H.E. Bratislav Gašić, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Serbia, in continuation of the meetings of RACVIAC Director with the Ministers of Defence and Ministers of Foreign Affairs of RACVIAC Members, with the aim to further strengthen cooperation between Members and RACVIAC – Centre for Security Cooperation.
Ambassador Grigorie expressed profound gratitude for Serbia’s unwavering support during its 24 years of full membership in RACVIAC. Serbia’s consistent commitment has been reflected in its regular financial contributions, providing a representative for RACVIAC international staff, active participation in numerous Programmes, and the significant engagement of Serbian representatives in a wide array of RACVIAC activities. Additionally, Serbia successfully chaired the RACVIAC Multinational Advisory Group (MAG) on three separate occasions, underscoring its dedication to the Centre’s mission.
The meeting also explored opportunities to deepen Serbia’s engagement with RACVIAC, including the potential appointment of a seconded Serbian representative for RACVIAC international staff. Ambassador Grigorie highlighted the mutual benefits of such an initiative, emphasizing that it would not only enhance RACVIAC operational capabilities but also further strengthen the ties between Serbia and the Organization.
Minister Gašić reaffirmed Serbia’s readiness to increase its contribution to RACVIAC, expressing his intention to nominate a Serbian representative for the position of Programme Manager in SSG Pillar.
The meeting underscored the enduring partnership between Serbia and RACVIAC, with both sides expressing optimism about future endeavors aimed at enhancing regional security and cooperation in South East Europe. Discussions concluded on a positive note, with Ambassador Grigorie emphasizing the importance of joint efforts to promote stability and security across the region.
