On the margins of the South Eastern European Defense Ministerial (SEDM) Meeting in Sarajevo, H.E. Ambassador Constantin-Mihail Grigorie, Director of RACVIAC – Centre for Security Cooperation, held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Antonie Nosatii, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Moldova. This marked the third direct exchange between the two officials, following their initial discussion during the 2023 SEDM Ministerial Meeting in Ankara and 2024 SEDM Ministerial Meeting in Tirana.
Ambassador Grigorie warmly acknowledged the Republic of Moldova’s long-standing engagement with RACVIAC since joining the Centre as a Core Member in 2004. Over the years, Republic of Moldova has demonstrated exemplary commitment to regional security cooperation, including seconding officers to Security Sector Governance Pillar, actively participating in Multinational Advisory Group (MAG) meetings, and assuming the MAG Chairmanship in 2007–2008. Under the Republic of Moldova’s leadership, the April 2008 MAG meeting was successfully hosted in Chișinău. Republic of Moldova further contributed expertise through chairing a working group of the Defence Conversion Cell, advancing defense reform and the transition of military industry.
The discussion also reflected country’s enduring support for regional security dialogue and cooperation. The Republic of Moldova has remained an active and valued partner, particularly within the Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (C-WMD) Network.
Ambassador Grigorie emphasized the opportunities for renewed and deeper engagement, should the Republic of Moldova consider to raise its status to the Associate Member or reactivating full membership. Such a step, following the full Membership of the Republic of Moldova in SEDM, would strengthen a broader participation across RACVIAC thematic pillars, enhanced influence in regional security initiatives, and expanded access to professional development, capacity-building, and networking with regional counterparts. RACVIAC Director underscored that the Republic of Moldova’s previous leadership and substantial contributions provide a strong foundation for future collaboration.
Minister Nosatii welcomed the exchange, recognizing the value of RACVIAC mission for the Republic of Moldova and the wider region and express readiness of its country to continue with active participation in RACVIAC activities and projects.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation and expressed readiness to continue the dialogue in that regard.
