On August 26, 2026, RACVIAC – Centre for Security
Cooperation hosted a senior delegation from the United States Defense Threat
Reduction Agency (DTRA) led by Ms. Laura J. Gross, Director of the Global
Threat Reduction Directorate, for a bilateral working meeting.
RACVIAC Deputy Director RADM Predrag Stipanović welcomed the
delegation and chaired discussions focused on reinforcing regional security
frameworks, expanding joint training initiatives, and charting the future of
cooperative countering weapons of mass destruction (C-WMD) and arms control
efforts.
The meeting served as an essential forum to review the
evolution of the C-WMD Network, established in 2015 under a joint U.S.–Croatia
initiative, which has successfully transitioned from adopting national
counterproliferation strategies to fostering regional capacity building,
highlighted by the launch of the Regional WMD Counterproliferation Training
Initiative in 2025.
Looking ahead, both delegations explored future avenues for
joint arms control activities and concluded the session by signing a new
agreement that cements the long-term, mutually beneficial partnership between
RACVIAC and DTRA.
