OSCE BA and Office of the Joint Commission for Defense and Security (JCDS) of Bosnia and Herzegovina delegation paid a visit to RACVIAC on 26th March 2024.
Their hosts were RACVIAC Director, H.E. Ambassador Constantin – Mihail Grigorie and Deputy Director, RADM Predrag Stipanović. The visiting delegation was headed by Mr. Samir Bašić, National Programme Officer for Security Co-operation, OSCE BA accompanied by Mr. Željko Grubešić, Consultant, OSCE BA and Ms. Ljiljana Miličević, JCDS Secretary, PA of BiH.
During the meeting preparations for the “Annual Meeting of the Representatives of Defence and Security Committees from SEE Parliaments”, which is planned to be held in Sarajevo, BA from June 10th to June 14th 2024, were discussed. The aim of the Annual Meeting is to stress the importance of the standards of parliamentary oversight over the security sector and the democratic control of Armed forces in SEE focusing on the current security challenges in the SEE countries. The target audience are parliamentarians, members and staffers of defence and security committees, civilians and military personnel from the ministries of defence and interior.
During the discussions Ambassador Grigorie particularly emphasized the importance that RACVIAC has for strengthening regional cooperation in the field of security. Ambassador Grigorie especially welcomed the return of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a co-organizer of the RACVIAC flagship event after a few-years break. He also highlighted the importance of parliamentary diplomacy for building a climate of security and understanding in the region.
RACVIAC team members expressed their satisfaction with the cooperation so far in the organization of the Meeting.
One of the standout aspects of the meeting was the consensus on the agenda proposals, financial costs, potential partners, financial obligations of all partners and logistic support.
Both RACVIAC and OSCE expressed their satisfaction with their existing cooperation and shared a similar vision for the future direction of their partnership. OSCE confirmed its involvement in the “Annual Meeting”, scheduled for June.
This visit of the OSCE delegation reaffirmed the strong bond between the two organizations and their dedication to the common goal of promoting security, stability, and cooperation in the region.
