On April 4, 2023 Minister of Defense of the Republic of Croatia Mario Banožić visited RACVIAC. His hosts were RACVIAC Director, MG (ret.) Jeronim Bazo and Deputy Director, MG Slaven Zdilar. Since „Hybrid Threats in SE Europe – Securtiy from Hybrid Threats – Media and Terrorism“ Course is currently being held in RACVIAC, in cooperation with the Hellenic MPSOTC, the Minister addressed the Course participants pointing out that hybrid threats pose one of the biggest security challenges of the modern world and that conferences such as this one are an opportunity to exchange valuable knowledge and experience.
„Hybrid activities affect all areas and aspects of social life, that is, they are used to directly threaten peace and cause crises and conflicts. Their actions also pose a threat to new technologies, such as artificial intelligence. This prompts us to understand the importance of finding the fastest and appropriate solutions in dealing with these challenges“, said the Minister of Defense.
As a part of his visit to RACVIAC Minister Banožić thanked the Director of RACVIAC, General Jeronim Bazo, on the occasion of the end of his mandate for all his efforts in steering the way ahead for RACVIAC.
In the end the Minister concluded: „In the coming period it is crucial to continue to improve cooperation between governments and the academic community. Precisely in this context I once again welcome the organization of such a Conference.“
After addressing the participants of the activity the Minister, accompanied by MG Željko Živanović and BG Perica Turalija, participated in a meeting with the hosts and employees of RACVIAC. On this occasion General Bazo referred to the mission of the Organization in the context of promoting dialogue and cooperation in the field of security, but also to the role of RACVIAC as a forum for the transfer of knowledge and experience in SEE countries. He presented the guests with the projects that RACVIAC is currently working on and highlighted some of the most important achievements during his mandate. He thanked the Minister for cooperation with the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Croatia so far and praised the personnel seconded from the Ministry of Defense to RACVIAC.
