On the margins of the joint Workshop “Future Directions in Fire Investigations,” organized on 13-15 May 2025 by RACVIAC – Centre for Security Cooperation in collaboration with the University of Split’s Department for Forensic Sciences and the Croatian Firefighting Association at the Regional Firefighting Center facilities in Vučevica, the Director of RACVIAC, Ambassador Constantin-Mihail Grigorie, had a meeting with the Rector of the University of Split.
Ambassador Grigorie met with the Rector of the University of Split, Prof. Dr. Dragan Ljutić, to review ongoing and future collaborative efforts within the framework of the five-year Project “Improving Security Governance through Implementation of Forensic Science in State Institutions and Agencies,” launched in 2022.
During the meeting, key activities implemented so far were discussed, including the 2023 Online Conference on Project Activities Introduction, the Workshop “Money Laundering – Where Theory Meets Practice,” and the 2024 event on AI and Lethal Autonomous Weapon Systems (AI LAWS). Particular attention was given to the growing interest in topics related to artificial intelligence and firefighting, which have resonated strongly with RACVIAC Members and international partners.
Looking ahead, both sides expressed a shared commitment to further enhancing collaboration, especially in the area of firefighting. The continuation of such initiatives is expected to contribute significantly to the visibility and regional role of the Vučevica Training Centre.
Prof. Ljutić warmly welcomed the visit and expressed gratitude for RACVIAC dedication and contributions to the joint project. He emphasized the University’s strong interest in continuing and deepening its cooperation with RACVIAC. Ambassador Grigorie, in turn, voiced his appreciation for the fruitful partnership with the University of Split and affirmed his confidence in the success of upcoming activities. Rector Ljutić accepted with pleasure Ambassador Grigorie’s invitation to visit RACVIAC.
