On Thursday, November 30th 2023, His Excellency Mr. Oleg Tulea, Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the Republic of Croatia, was warmly welcomed on RACVIAC premises.
He was invited and hosted by RACVIAC Director, H.E. Ambassador Constantin – Mihail Grigorie, to mark this moment as leading to deeper mutual understanding and further cooperation.
Ambassador Grigorie introduced him to the history of RACVIAC and its continuous work in enhancing international defence and security collaboration. The 2024 Programme was presented with new opportunities to strengthen mutual trust and efforts in promoting regional stability.
The Republic of Moldova was admitted to RACVIAC in 2004, where it had the status of a Core Member. Moldova used to second personnel to RACVIAC and actively participate in MAG meetings, chairing the MAG from 2008 to 2009, and hosted the MAG meeting in April 2009 in Chisinau. In the fall of 2010, Moldova changed its status from Member to Observer. Nevertheless, Moldova kept continuously sending participants, mainly to the activities of the C-WMD Network, in which it remains an active partner.
Ambassador Grigorie used this opportunity to congratulate for Moldova’s full membership in SEDM which is a landmark achievement enhancing regional cohesion and security. At the same time the need for Moldovan membership in RACVIAC was highlighted in view of increasing challenges in South East Europe.
Sharing the common goals of security and cooperation in South East Europe, H.E. Ambassador Tulea and H.E. Ambassador Grigorie both accentuated their willingness to put efforts into expanding Moldova’s cooperation with RACVIAC.
Ambassador Tulea thanked his host, Ambassador Grigorie, for inviting him and called the presented Programme impressive. He thanked for the proposal of the Director of RACVIAC that the Republic of Moldova become a member and appreciated that such status will contribute to RACVIAC mission of fostering dialogue and security in the region.
The two Ambassadors agreed to expand the ongoing dialogue with the purpose of achieving Moldova’s full membership in RACVIAC.
