On the sidelines of the ongoing RACVIAC “Annual Meeting of the Representatives of Defense and Security Committees from SEE Parliaments”, taking place on 12-13 June 2024 at the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Director of Centre for Security Cooperation – RACVIAC, H.E. Ambassador Constantin-Mihail Grigorie, held an official meeting in Sarajevo with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, H.E. Elmedin Konaković, on June 11, 2024. The meeting centered on fortifying the long-standing cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and RACVIAC.
Ambassador Grigorie extended his heartfelt gratitude for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s steadfast support of RACVIAC over the past 24 years. He highlighted the active participation of the country in RACVIAC activities, its consistent financial contributions and the secondment of staff as crucial elements of this enduring partnership. Ambassador Grigorie also expressed appreciation to Bosnia and Herzegovina for hosting the current RACVIAC meeting, organized in collaboration with the Joint Committee on Defense and Security of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Geneva Center for Security Sector Governance (DCAF).
Director emphasized the participation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the activities in the arms control and security sector areas, and that this is the fifth time that it is hosting the “Annual Meeting of the Representatives of Defense and Security Committees from SEE Parliaments” as well as being actively involved in RACVIAC C-WMD Network projects.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is providing an Activity Manager for the Centre’s international staff, has held two times positions of Director and has chaired the RACVIAC steering committee – Multinational Advisory Group – twice.
Ambassador Grigorie informed Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the initiatives devoted for increasing the visibility of the Center and participation and contribution of Members, Associate Members and Observers in RACVIAC activities, for attracting all SEECP countries to become Members of RACVIAC family.
During the meeting Minister Konaković underscored RACVIAC active role in promoting regional trust and cooperation through diverse projects. He reaffirmed Bosnia and Herzegovina’s unwavering commitment to RACVIAC, demonstrated by its active involvement, strategic planning, and financial support.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina expressed his appreciation for the excellent cooperation with RACVIAC and the desire to further enhance this relationship.
Ambassador Grigorie expressed gratitude to Minister Konaković for his kind remarks and affirmed unwavering support for RACVIAC mission to promote dialogue and cooperation, assuring that RACVIAC will continue to actively work to secure peace and security in SEE.
The dialogue between Ambassador Grigorie and Minister Konaković reaffirmed the enduring partnership between the two sides both of which are dedicated to deepening their collaboration to enhance regional security and foster dialogue and cooperation.
