The Ambassador of Austria to the Republic of Croatia, H.E. Yvonne Tončić-Sorinj, visited RACVIAC – Centre for Security Cooperation on 9 October 2025. She was accompanied by Colonel Jure Johann Bauer, Defense Attaché of the Austrian Embassy.
The guests were welcomed by Ambassador Constantin-Mihail Grigorie, Director of RACVIAC, together with members of the Centre’s staff.
During the visit Ambassador Tončić-Sorinj was briefed on RACVIAC mission, activities, and ongoing initiatives aimed at promoting regional security and cooperation. In a tête-à-tête meeting Ambassadors Tončić-Sorinj and Grigorie exchanged views on the Centre’s history, achievements, and current efforts to strengthen stability and collaboration in South East Europe.
Ambassador Grigorie highlighted Austria’s long-standing support and engagement in the development of RACVIAC, recalling its leadership through former Director Brigadier General Johann Pucher (2002–2004) and the continuous contribution of Austrian officers who served as Operations Managers and Planning and Liaison Officers until 2021. He underlined that Austria’s operational presence through seconded officers has been of great value to the Centre and expressed hope that such cooperation would be renewed in the future. Ambassador Grigorie also thanked Ambassador Tončić-Sorinj for her visit and for Austria’s steadfast commitment to the Centre’s mission.
As part of the visit the RACVIAC Programme was presented, emphasizing new avenues for cooperation and the importance of continued partnership in promoting regional stability, dialogue, and confidence-building.
Ambassador Tončić-Sorinj expressed her appreciation for RACVIAC role in fostering security dialogue and trust-building measures in South East Europe. She reaffirmed Austria’s commitment to regional stability and its readiness to continue supporting RACVIAC initiatives.
