On Thursday, December 5, 2024, H.E. Ambassador Constantin-Mihail Grigorie, RACVIAC Director, welcomed the Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Croatia, H.E. Mihaela Daniela Cămărășan, to a diplomatic meeting emphasizing Romania’s exemplary role in supporting RACVIAC mission.

The meeting commenced with Ambassador Grigorie acknowledging Romania’s leadership and longstanding commitment to RACVIAC. He highlighted Romania’s vital contributions since the Centre’s inception and expressed deep gratitude for Romania’s financial and strategic contributions, which have significantly bolstered RACVIAC objectives.

Romania is one of RACVIAC strongest financial supporters, which is a testament to its dedication to fostering regional security and stability.

Romania’s instrumental contribution in co-organizing numerous RACVIAC activities, starting in 2014 with its leading role in the Energy Security Seminar, was particularly applauded.

Romania’s commitment to addressing emerging security challenges and advancing innovative topics was also visible in co-organizing the “Workshop on Artificial Intelligence and Lethal Autonomous Weapons Systems” in October 2024.  This Workshop was organized by RACVIAC in collaboration with the Euro – Atlantic Resilience Center (E-ARC) from Romania and the University of Split.

Romania’s key involvement in organizing the Inaugural Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (C-WMD) Capabilities Enhancement Workshop in Bucharest, scheduled for February 2025, which is a part of the new RACVIAC/DTRA Regional WMD Counterproliferation Training Initiative, was also underlined.

Additionally, the Romanian Euro-Atlantic Resilience Centre (E-ARC) is a partner, together with the U.S. Civilian Research and Development Foundation (CRDF Global), in RACVIAC new flagship event “Conference on Critical Infrastructure Protection” which will be organized in April 2025.

He also highlighted Romania’s leadership in RACVIAC, noting its two terms as Chair of the Multinational Advisory Group (MAG) and its current leadership role as RACVIAC Director. These achievements underscore Romania’s unwavering dedication to advancing regional dialogue and operational excellence.

Ambassador Grigorie emphasized the potential for future engagement, including the possibility of seconding the Romanian Ministry of Defense representative to RACVIAC, which would enhance operational capacity and further deepen Romania’s involvement.

Ambassador Cămărășan expressed her appreciation for the warm reception and reiterated Romania’s steadfast commitment to RACVIAC mission. She underlined her country’s support for ongoing and future initiatives of RACVAC, devoted to fostering dialogue for a secure and cooperative region.

H.E. Ambassador Grigorie and H.E. Ambassador Cămărășan both agreed to continue with the already excellent, mutually beneficial cooperation between Romania and RACVIAC.
