Upon the invitation of Director of RACVIAC, H.E. Ambassador Constantin-Mihail Grigorie, H.E. Mr. Masato Iso, Ambassador of Japan, visited RACVIAC – Center for Security Cooperation on 8th December 2023. This marked a historical moment in RACVIAC relations with Japan as this is the first visit by a Japanese dignitary to RACVIAC to date.
Ambassador Iso was accompanied by Ms. Chie Oshima, First Secretary. They were hosted on RACVIAC premises in Rakitje and got more acquainted with the work of the Centre and its staff. The visit included a tête-à-tête with Ambassador Grigorie after which Ambassador Grigorie informed H.E. Iso about the history of RACVIAC and its continuous work in the area of enhancing international defence and security collaboration. The 2024 Programme was also presented with new opportunities to strengthen mutual trust and efforts in promoting regional stability. The opportunity was also used to have a discussion with RACVIAC Programme staff.
The visit aimed to provide the Japanese delegation with a comprehensive view of increasing challenges in South East Europe.
Ambassador Grigorie opened the door to future cooperation with Japan in helping RACVIAC achieve its mission of promoting regional security, stability and fostering dialogue among South East European countries. H.E. Ambassador Iso welcomed the possibility of cooperating with RACVIAC and agreed to seek a modality to broaden the ongoing dialogue with the purpose of expanding Japanese cooperation with RACVIAC.
Ambassador Iso conveyed appreciation for the gracious invitation extended by Director of RACVIAC and his pleasure in accepting it. Additionally, he expressed gratitude for the information provided and commended overall RACVIAC efforts during the past 23 years.
Sharing the common goals of security and cooperation in South East Europe, H.E. Ambassador Iso and H.E. Ambassador Grigorie both accentuated their willingness to put efforts into finding projects to cooperate on.
While noting down his impressions in the RACVIAC guestbook, Ambassador Iso wished everyone involved in RACVIAC work lots of success.
