Ambassador of Ireland visits RACVIAC

Upon the invitation of RACVIAC Director, H.E. Ambassador Constantin-Mihail Grigorie, H.E. Wendy Dorman – Smith, Ambassador of Ireland to the Republic of Croatia, visited RACVIAC – Centre for Security Cooperation on November 26, 2024.

After being warmly received on RACVIAC premises in Rakitje, Irish Ambassador to Croatia was introduced to the Centre’s activities and staff. Ambassador Dorman – Smith held a tête-à-tête meeting with Ambassador Grigorie, where she was briefed on RACVIAC history and its ongoing initiatives to enhance international security cooperation. The discussions also covered the presentation of the 2025 Programme, outlining efforts to promote regional stability and trust.

RACVIAC Director informed Ambassador Dorman – Smith that RACVIAC is cooperating with Irish Defence Forces on “Gender Training of the Trainers (GToT) Course” by deploying a RACVIAC Mobile and Education Training Team (METT) to Ireland following other similar missions of RACVIAC in Portugal and Tunisia.

Expressing appreciation for the presentation on forthcoming RACVIAC activities, H.E. Ambassador Dorman – Smith conveyed her desire to enhance Ireland’s involvement in RACVIAC.

In light of their shared objectives of advancing security and collaboration in SEE and beyond, Ambassador Grigorie thanked Ambassador Dorman Smith for the visit and the two agreed to carry on the conversation and investigate the potential for Ireland to join RACVIAC’s efforts.
