Ambassador of Canada, H.E. Jessica Blitt, visits RACVIAC

Upon the invitation of Director of RACVIAC, H.E. Ambassador Constantin-Mihail Grigorie, H.E. Jessica Blitt, Ambassador of Canada to the Republic of Croatia paid a visit to RACVIAC – Centre for Security Cooperation on 26 January 2024.

The Canadian Ambassador was warmly welcomed on RACVIAC premises in Rakitje and got introduced to the Centre’s operations and staff. During the visit H.E. Ambassador Jesicca Blitt had a tête-à-tête meeting with Ambassador Grigorie, during which the Director briefed her on RACVIAC history and ongoing efforts to improve international security cooperation. Additionally, Programme 2024 was presented to H.E. and new efforts to advance regional stability and mutual trust.

Since the foundation of RACVIAC Canada has had the status of an Observer country and as such occasionally participates in RACVIAC activities. Besides, Canada showed special interest in 2012 and 2014 for the activity “Open Skies Treaty Aerial Observation Course”. In 2017, RACVIAC, in cooperation with the Embassy of Canada and the Demining Office of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, organized a successful conference on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Ottawa Convention.

H.E. Ambassador Blitt expressed gratitude for the presentation of upcoming RACVIAC activities and showed her willingness to put efforts into increasing Canadian participation in them.

H.E. Ambassador Blitt and H.E. Ambassador Grigorie both agreed to continue the dialogue with the purpose of increasing Canadian involvement in RACVIAC in order to share the common goals of security and cooperation in SEE.
